Microscope

Have you ever felt backed up as if you can’t reach out
All of your thoughts are filled with doubt
Looking everywhere for answers and no friends that care
At least it seems that way because of how you’re drowning in despair

Shut off to the world not letting it be known
That the real you is suffering with no hope shown
The façade is doing its job hiding the pain
But how long can you last as it piles up each day

Each second the clock ticks you wonder the next step
Which way is it that you can feel an ounce of progress
Success seems to be what defines us, but the definition isn’t just
You and I both know there is more to this life, but we can’t shake the rust

Time is a constant, no alterations necessary
But it seems to be differing as it is no longer plenty
We can’t explain the transition that happens as we age
Especially when we can’t figure out how to dissolve our rage

As each one of us tries to turn the page, we pause on ourselves
In the world of today that seems to be the key to wealth
After all how can we make an impact if we aren’t right
The answer is easy because nobody is perfect in His sight

Tonight as we lay our heads to sleep
There is still a world surrounding us full of broken dreams
To focus on our problems isn’t what makes us unique
The ability to encourage one another is one of many keys

Unlock yourself from the chains of today
I guarantee you can identify with someone else’s pain
There is something to the saying, “there’s strength in numbers”
We’re all inhabiting this planet for a reason, so why not truly help each other

Collateral

Kids against cops and cops against kids
Media propaganda trying to brainwash our judgment
When will it all end
The influence of hatred on the matter behind our eyelids

We get “pro” tips, but are left with tricks
Each piece of advice leading to nothing nice
False bravado to antagonize a desired outcome
Leading us slowly down the road to a wretched kingdom

Tainted dark nights around the clock
The fountain overflows with the weight of each rock
All the hearts stop because the brain is washed
Too many focused on the wrongs to avoid responsibilities at all costs

So many souls lost for the dream of fame
Fifteen minutes and it’s all defamed
Slanderous cancer eating away at the hopes and dreams of each person
Getting the negative criticisms to make our moods worsen

With the mountains that we’re forced to climb
We should know there is far better out there worth our time
I’ve found it and I hope you can to
Before time runs out under the sky so blue

River

I’ve often thought about the times you told me I could fly
To the sky in which a great glory resides
The day that comes when it’s all said and done
Crying now in pain, when one day that will all be left behind in the shade
I’m not one to go around expecting a parade
Each time I do something well, because it doesn’t mean we have to celebrate
I want to exchange my success for the cure of someone else’s heartache
The days that we face full of pain, but put a smile on our face as a charade
Can’t be forgotten because you can’t hide all your problems
I looked once and once again saw the notion of commotion
That entangles our mind sending chills down our spine
Poverty and violence are worldwide, but it needs to subside
I’ve anticipated change and instead accepted blame
I’ve hesitated when I should’ve remained motivated
I can’t seem to recall when it was I last rose from this fall
Each time I enter the world it feels so cold
So let it snow, as it’s often said and it’s no longer winter
When will the heat of summer spark a fire toward desire
To diminish this explicitness that we encounter
I’ve lived a smart life, but remain clueless
Intelligence comes through learning, but experience produces wisdom
If it isn’t you than it’s me left questioning why so many accept being empty
That pit deep inside isn’t hard to find
You look in the mirror in horror at times
Wanting things you don’t have instead of being thankful for what you do
In order to find that happiness you think is hiding you must seek
Open your hearts and eyes to those who are weak
Provide your strength to match their need
So at the end of the day their strength can be your remedy
It isn’t hard to see we’re connected
That’s the answer to your question
If you treated each other with love and dignity
There would be many more peaceful cities
I say a prayer because I know He’s listening
For the health and well-being of each individual living
Regardless of your stance or belief
I outstretch my hand to help you if you need relief
Doesn’t matter your age, gender, or ethnicity
The thought of you being harmed displeases me
I’m in the country that claims that it’s free
When in reality we all can plainly see
It isn’t this life that truly grants us that legacy
It is said that one man can change the world
But that event already happened
Before the diamonds and before the pearls
A simple, yet extraordinary gift was given
Many choose to deny the existence
When facts have proven this particular mission
I sense that the world is going in the wrong direction
Each day there’s a story that shows the misconceptions
Just because the times change doesn’t mean we should sin
Self indulgence isn’t a recipe for togetherness
Pleasure shouldn’t be defined solely to the physical
Because temporary is no comparison for the eternal
I hate to think about all the tragedy lingering this very moment
By the time these words have been spoken
Chances are someone has suffered in some way, shape, or form
And the only way to persevere through all these storms is to kneel before the Lord

Illusionary

A cloudy sky, it’s cryptic
With everything underneath that’s sick
A world torn apart by storms we can’t predict
Nothing to do with weather, but whether or not humanity risks

Holding steady to a phenomenon
Sticking with the dark horse they rode in on
Like black magic they’re cursed
Not knowing the materials they acquire make them worse

Everything can rot and rust
Before you know it, we’ll all be dust
The physical is subliminal at best
Which is why the enemy wants you to fail the spiritual test

Do you believe in yourself
What drives you to acquire a sense of wealth
Does your dream and goal hinder your health
How are so many allowing ethics and morals to go stealth

The zombie apocalypse is already upon us
Giving free access to be brainwashed without fuss
So many walking blindly after the flesh
No sense of purpose just desire to follow the trends to mesh

Times have changed, but definitions should not
I don’t see much truth and love, it’s like we’ve forgot
Many new ideas have been a blight on society
Going forward with reckless abandon for the slightest notoriety

There are plenty antagonists trying to intrude with their plot twists
I’ve found it hard to truly enjoy any new experience
The surrounding ways of torture have betrayed my confidence
Far too hard to breathe normally while witnessing all the ignorance

All these lemmings jumping off the cliff
Going for the ride of suicide without realizing their gifts
Each shift someone contemplates how much they want to quit
It’s sad that so many think there’s nothing worth preventing it

The secret isn’t under lock and key
It is out in the open for the entire world to see
Just so many choose to look elsewhere
Resulting in their continued misconception that nobody cares

Frozen Feeling

The bitter winter encases us in cold
“Move somewhere warm” is what I’ve been told
If it were that easy, it would be done
I’d love to experience the constant warmth of the sun

Regardless, the weather will be what it is
Stagnating outdoor activity with horrid driving conditions
It’s easier to warm up than to stay cool
In my opinion though these winters are far too cruel

Snowfall isn’t all that bad
But at this point the constant sight makes me mad
I’m use to seeing all four seasons
But still wouldn’t mind a different experience for many reasons

As I sit here in a bit of complaint
There are far worse circumstances to exclaim
So many things that need our awareness
In an effort to fight back against real unfairness

Look at the greater issues, not just your own
Many problems out there that need to be atoned
Don’t walk around like a mindless drone
Think for yourself, so you can formulate a comfort zone

Now step away from your phones
Go against the things you don’t condone
Rise up against the evils that grow
No matter what the weather decides to throw

Universal

You can’t tell me love isn’t real
You can’t tell me love doesn’t heal
You can’t tell me love shouldn’t feel
You can’ tell me love couldn’t deal

Reality involves love, I can tell you that
Healing involves love, I can tell you that
Feeling involves love, I can tell you that
Dealing with problems involves love, I can tell you that

Love can be seen, heard, or felt
Love can be invisible, silent, or stealth
Just never forget love is greater than wealth

Knelt

Eyes closed, mind open
I fall to my knees with my heart broken
The images of a battered public
Violence and hatred continuin’ to make me sick

Can’t hesitate to settle down and pray
Since we need divine intervention on this day
Yes we’re all human, but all I see are monsters
We should be lovin’, but instead are torturers

Pick up the pace on this change they say
When in reality it’s more destructive than foul play
There are all these hesitations for the conclave
With far too many people enterin’ an early grave

What’s the case, why the tragedies
Within every place, you see countless felonies
I suppose evil has started the race quickly
So there’s no time for too good to go slow and steady

Don’t focus on the popularity
Do what’s actually right through morality
Each time I blink another soul is lost
Is this world really worth the cost

I almost can’t stand to see all that’s empty
The hearts of those who impose all the fallacy
Livin’ in these times it’s a harsh reality
Being as we just can’t move past our fantasy

No one’s perfect, not one country
Not one group, not the one you’re electing
I hold compassion and great sympathy
However the terrible nature continues with the clock ticking

Dusk

It’s late at night
Worldwide so much fright
I can’t stop thinking
Millions drowning themselves by drinking

Out and about cloaked in darkness
People in problems held and harnessed
It pains me to imagine what could be happening
As I sit here and count my blessings

So much insanity
Lives torn with calamity
All this surrounds me
As I sit here writing poetry

No more slavery
No more blasphemy
No more catastrophe
No more treachery
Just some things that would be nice to see

I’m still contemplating
All the realities
All the fantasies
All the wishful thinking

Progression requires a dive
Desire is needed to thrive
Let’s see improvement arrive
Because hope is still alive

Compassion

Fallen circumstances can come quick
Especially these days with point and click
You sit at home and a struggle comes
Not knowing the direction it came from

Blindsided with one problem
Leading to an undesired outcome
All it takes is one strain for it all to break
Whether or not it was a mistake

So much heartache in this world today
Homeless people around the blocks is not ok
We’ve all had issues, we’ve all had pains
So respond in kind to them so they can gain

We haven’t walked in their shoes
It’s not our right to judge, ‘cause we have no clue
How they got into that predicament
The fact is they need compassion that’s legitimate

Hold them close, keep an eye out
Express love and kindness without doubt
Nobody knows when misfortune can come
Nor the method in which it can flip your life’s run

So be aware of how you respond
Because if that was you, what would you want
As long as someone breathes, a purpose is there
So chances should be given, despite life being unfair

Star Spangled

(Listen to it here) “Star Spangled”

Once and for all I’d like to see the downfall
Of this hypnotic erotic societal crawl
One nation under God, in which we stand
But currently we’re stuck lying down on our faces flat

Everyone struggling to face the facts
Hard to make changes when no one reacts
The lack of motivation is rather staggering
Bust out the Richter cause these vibes are everlasting

None of these devious devices are getting past me
I’m educated to the style of their blasphemy
Creativity has become a blessing and a curse
The plethora of it is often taken for better or worse

It’s a wonder what will come of this web
As it blows in the wind seeking a destination
All the lies entangled amongst the star spangled
Tremors rising the tide from all different angles

A flood won’t happen again, but emotions beg to differ
As pain increases making us all a little stiffer
Afraid to move and afraid to act
Hard to laugh when we actually face the facts

Down, down we go as opportunities pass
Will we grab a hold of hope or sink below the grass
The stash of answers isn’t hidden away
Can we please come to that realization today

You can’t label illness upon every problem
Not everything can be classified as a condition
So while you’re sittin their wishin for tolerance
Remember that there’ll be a time of judgment
