Almost everyone is in a pursuit for cash
Avoiding being cordial and instead brash
Nobody respecting the cold hard facts
That respect and decency are what attracts
Everything is more fun with more friends
So within the pursuit don’t treat them as loose ends
Family first is how we should approach deals
Reflecting the love we all hope to feel

The lines of communication have become blurred
Hesitating to connect due to the constant barrage of slurs
Hatred emphasized nightly through various news
When togetherness is the change we need to see accrue
No matter what you say or what you do
Each of us has had difficult times we’ve been through
Doesn’t matter what you think you once knew
Every day presents something new and a radius of change begins with you

Disjointed

It’s quiet time in my heart
An unfamiliar feeling even from the start
Back in the times where memory doesn’t exist
I imagine it was still filled with bliss

Questions continue to arise
With no sense of answer in sight
My mind races intelligibly
But the rotation of this world keeps me away from assembly

Electricity seems to carry a greater power
Everyone connected to technology hour by hour
Various resources at our finger tips
Still not many thinking for themselves, just instead accept ignorance

My pulse still shows mountains to climb and valleys to fall
I’ve seen so many things, but I doubt I’ve seen them all
I’ve heard so many things, but I doubt I’ve heard enough
With each passing second there is someone out there whose life is rough

Actions are being taken causing various effects
A lone man here with so much to say, but why do so if it doesn’t protect
A predator lies in wait for its prey
However, I’ve chosen to rest in silence and pray

There’s strength in numbers, it’s no false tale
So why do we separate the togetherness to make us frail

Microscope

Have you ever felt backed up as if you can’t reach out
All of your thoughts are filled with doubt
Looking everywhere for answers and no friends that care
At least it seems that way because of how you’re drowning in despair

Shut off to the world not letting it be known
That the real you is suffering with no hope shown
The façade is doing its job hiding the pain
But how long can you last as it piles up each day

Each second the clock ticks you wonder the next step
Which way is it that you can feel an ounce of progress
Success seems to be what defines us, but the definition isn’t just
You and I both know there is more to this life, but we can’t shake the rust

Time is a constant, no alterations necessary
But it seems to be differing as it is no longer plenty
We can’t explain the transition that happens as we age
Especially when we can’t figure out how to dissolve our rage

As each one of us tries to turn the page, we pause on ourselves
In the world of today that seems to be the key to wealth
After all how can we make an impact if we aren’t right
The answer is easy because nobody is perfect in His sight

Tonight as we lay our heads to sleep
There is still a world surrounding us full of broken dreams
To focus on our problems isn’t what makes us unique
The ability to encourage one another is one of many keys

Unlock yourself from the chains of today
I guarantee you can identify with someone else’s pain
There is something to the saying, “there’s strength in numbers”
We’re all inhabiting this planet for a reason, so why not truly help each other

Populace

As we sit back and collect our thoughts
Are we paving the correct way on this day
Do our actions display what we want taught
Who are we impacting with our journey

It’s easy to look around at the negatives of life
Yet life itself is something to be celebrated
There is an over abundance of strife
But the miracle of babies should never be under appreciated

We tend to focus on our immediate surroundings
With surprises and occurrences that directly effect
But each day thousands of lives are just beginning
Something we take for granted and need to show respect

It isn’t right to take away that opportunity
With generations and eras on this planet continuing
The fact remains we need to acquire more unity
Growing with, instead of against each other… congruently
